Constance A. "Connie"(Smith) Noonan, 83, a resident of East Longmeadow,
died Friday afternoon, May 26, 2006 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Palmer, MA on December 26, 1922, the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Cantwell) Smith. Raised in Palmer, she graduated from Palmer High School in 1940.
Connie subsequently graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse for 30 years at the former Wesson Memorial Hospital in Springfield until she retired in 1985.
She had resided in Springfield, and for the past 36 years has been a resident of East Longmeadow. Connie was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Springfield and was also a member of the Catholic Women's Club.
Connie served her country during W.W. II with the United States Army Nurse Corps and attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. She was stationed in France at an Army Field Hospital and also at the McCloskey General Hospital in Temple, Texas. She received the EAME Campaign Medal and the W.W. II Victory Medal.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Timothy F. Noonan who died March 4, 1999. Connie is survived by two sisters, Patricia C. Smith of Palmer, MA and Janet M. Moore of Peoria, AZ.
Connie is also survived by eight children: a daughter, Constance A. Noonan of Millis, MA and
seven sons, Timothy F. Noonan, Jr. of Scarborough, ME, Patrick E. Noonan of Northampton, MA, Edward J. Noonan of Palmer, MA, George M. Noonan of Kansas City, MO, Kevin J. Noonan of Amherst, MA, Carey S. Noonan of Springfield, MA and Mark A. Noonan of Westfield, MA.
Connie also had twenty two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
